Novelist set to debut new book in London

IN OTHER WORDS

By KATHY RUMLESKI, The London Free Press

London and area writers have recently produced books that are personal, reflective, fun and colourful. Subjects run the gamut of running itself to music to history. Also included in this selection are books from writers beyond London, but who set their stories here or include information about the London area.

We also wanted to make note that writer and actor Thom Vernon is debuting his novel The Drifts in London on Tuesday. Vernon will be reading from the book, which explores the themes of otherness, gender and memory. Vernon has come to live in Canada from the U.S. after his 10-year relationship with his same-sex partner from Zimbabwe was not recognized, even for immigration purposes.

Vernon is at the London Public Library, beginning at 7 p.m., for the free reading.
